Patios usually come in either natural stone or traditional paving slabs. There is a vast range of paving available to suit a modern town house to a country cottage, this is something we can discuss in helping you choose the desired look for your property.
One of the most important things about the patio is the preparation. JCM Fencing and Landscaping excavate to a minimum of 150 mm deep, this will allow for a good quality compacted sub-base. The slabs are then laid on a layer of full wet sand and cement mix. If the patio you have chosen requires pointing up between the slabs, there are various methods and products that we can offer you to achieve the finish you desire.
Driveways are usually either block paving or a gravel finish. A good sub base is vital in the preparation for the driveway, as this provides a solid foundation as well as good drainage. Block paving areas need to be excavated to a minimum of 200 mm and edgings are often required to "frame" your area. The paviors are laid on a 40 mm compacted grit sand layer.
For the gravel areas, once again a good sub base and edgings are vital. Often with this type of material a membrane is required, this will help to prevent any weeds or plants growing through.
Whether you are looking for a small ornamental wall, or a more significant brick structure, we at JCM Fencing and Landscaping both have the skills and experience to build this for you. This can be anything from a dry stone wall to a modern rendered wall. Amongst the styles available are, garden walls, retaining walls (rendered) reconstituted stone walling, dry stone walls and 4" or 9" feature walls.
For JCM Fencing and Landscaping to complete this work, one of our experienced team will come to visit you and discuss the types and styles suitable, to achieve the result you are looking for.
It is possible to use wooden sleepers either in oak or softwood pressure treated as an alternative to brick or block work, these can be used either vertically or horizontally for retainment.
A step is often a necessity to enable you to get from one area to another, or from inside your property out onto the garden or patio. Steps can be used as an ornamental feature and can be built in the same materials as your patio, in brick or made using sleepers laid horizontally.
Whatever your requirements we can help you choose the correct style to complement the rest of your property.
JCM Fencing and Landscaping can carry out all of the preparation and excavation work as well as lay a quality lawn for you.
There are a number of choices when it comes to the type of turf you can have, these include:
Is hard wearing, very attractive, good quality and dark green in colour. If you have children or pets that spend a lot of time in the garden, then a hard watering sports turf might be the best choice for you.
This is more suited to the keen gardener who likes to mow their lawn regularly then an ornamental turf is a good choice, better used in the areas that don't get a lot of wear.
This can be an ideal alternative in areas where turf will not grow well. For example in gardens that have minimal sunlight. It is low maintenance and both child and pet friendly.
